Yesterday, I end up listening “Sete Vidas”, or “Seven Lives” in English, by Adriana Mezzadri and sing by Marcus Viana and Gabi Drumond. The lyrics has

Se a vida é uma longa espera
Então ensina-me a te esperar
Se a vida é breve primavera
Deixe-nos dela beber e já…

(…)

Vida…
Longa espera…
Breve Primavera…

Sete vidas tecendo o tempo
Amor e paixão…

A while ago I read a blog post from Amber that was extremally insightful. Amber wrote

Spiralling into depression and feeling thoughts of suicide is not a good place to be. Personally, I am finding that a single problem is never the cause. What leads me there is when depression, sadness or loss affects more than one of my key aspects of life.

Job – friends – family – sport – art – identity

Angela Robertson wrote about resolutions of an open leader at opensource.com. Angela’s list include

  1. Share objectives and key results I’ve identified for my team. Report on progress monthly.
  2. Write quarterly reflections and quarterly goals. Transparently share when I’ve made mistakes and what I’ve learned from the missteps.
  3. Plan work in two-week sprints.
  4. Write proposals down so I can share them transparently for feedback.
  5. Travel to Israel to meet team members who work in the country.
  6. Regularly unsubscribe to email lists or other notifications that might distract.
  7. Co-lead a leadership development program.
  8. Delegate transparently.
  9. Hold weekly one-on-one and weekly team meetings.
  10. Continue to work with my mentors.
  11. Continue to serve as a mentor to others.
  12. Support my partner’s career.
  13. Work with my youngest son on a coding project.
  14. Become a better team member for my peers while also building and developing my team.
  15. Take a meaningful vacation. No checking of email.
  16. Read 12 books that relate to improving my leadership and management skills (audiobooks count).
  17. Write one article a month for Opensource.com.
  18. Visit 6 colleges with my older son and learn about their CS programs.
  19. Continue to meditate regularly.

I really like Angela’s list and I should import some to my list, specially

Principles

Published on January 19, 2019.

I have “Principles” by Ray Dalio on my bed side for a couples of months. I found out about the book because of Atul Jha and I’m looking to write something about the book since I started reading it.

The book has three parts:

  1. Where I’m coming from
  2. Life Principles
  3. Work Principles

In the introduction, Ray says “I wouldn’t mind if you decided to skil [the first] part of this book” so I started with “Life Principles”. And they are five:

I crossed with a video on YouTube created by SchoolOfAttraction titled “Why MGTOW, Red Pill, And Feminism All Make The World A Worse Place”. The description of the video says

All these ideologies acts as big red flags to emotionally unstable people who have vendettas against the opposite gender.

I liked the video and think it worth share.
