Yesterday Google announced the projects accepted for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) and my my project was accepted.

During "students coding" phase of GSoC I will publish some updates here with the GSOC2014 tag and hope that you enjoy reading it. Bellow you you will find a short summary of my project and some of the work already done.

Math Suite at Firefox OS

In the first 25 year of the web math was mostly treat as a second class citizen (how many sites with lots of equations do you know?) and those that work with math still do it offline.

Math on the web is almost a chicken-egg problem and Firefox OS, the mobile operational system developed by Mozilla, can help solve it. Below I will try to explain how Firefox OS can do it.

MathML April Meeting

This is a report about the Mozilla MathML April IRC Meeting (see the announcement here). The topics of the meeting can be found in this PAD (local copy of the PAD <pad.txt>) and the IRC log (local copy of the IRC log <irc.txt>) is also available.

In the last 4 weeks the MathML team closed 13 bugs, worked in others 7 and open 2 new ones (this are only the ones tracked by Bugzilla).

Supybot

Supybot é um robô para canais de IRC escrito em Python2 (ainda não é compatível com Python3). Neste post é apresentado como instalá-lo e configurá-lo.

Instalação

Debian:

# apt-get install supybot

Criação

Crie um diretório para armazenar os arquivos do Supybot:

$ mkdir supybot

Utilize o supybot-wizard para criar os arquivos necessários (no exemplo a seguir o robô irá se conectar na rede Freenode). :

Firefox OS - Math apps

This is a review of almost all Firefox OS apps list when search for “math” at MarketPlace and related with math. The apps are sort alphabetically.

Advance Calculus

Advance Calculus is a app that calculate very basic differentiation and integrals.

Calcul.us is a app where the user should choose the correct operation for the numbers in the screen.
