Today I going to review Kontact.
Note
I’m reviewing Kontact 4.14.1 shipped with Debian 8.5.

Installation
Kontact should be available on any Linux distribution that offers KDE as Desktop Environment.
Configuration
Configuration is easy. Just type your email address and password on the window.
Summary Window
Kontact offers a summary windows that can be very useful.
{width=“80%”}
GPG Support
Kontact supports GPG. More details later.
Address book
{width=“80%”}
Lets create one contact.
{width=“80%”}
The contact window looks good. And it offers the possibility to tag the contacts.
{width=“80%”}
Note
Tags isn’t the same as contact list!
And you can configure the GPG per contact.
{width=“80%”}
After create the contact it is available on the list.
{width=“80%”}
If you want a contact list you can create a group.
{width=“80%”}
That has a very limited creation form.
{width=“80%”}
To add one contact to the group, start type and you will get some suggestion from the auto-complete.
Note
I think that groups should only have contacts that already exist on the address book but is possible to create new contacts that only exist inside the group.
The email viewer looks OK.
{width=“80%”}
And the email composer form looks OK.
{width=“80%”}
Unfortunately, something was broken with the auto-complete of the to
field and I get annoyed with the contact selection interface.
{width=“80%”}
TODO list
Kontact has a calendar view.
{width=“80%”}
And it has a TODO list view.
{width=“80%”}
You can create tasks.
{width=“80%”}
Unfortunately, the reminder and recurrence features are very limited since only support the pre-defined values.
{width=“80%”}
{width=“80%”}
If you want is possible to create sub-tasks.
{width=“80%”}
And the tasks are listed on the calendar view.
{width=“80%”}
You can use KTimeTracker to keep track of the time you spend on tasks but the version that I got wasn’t integrated with Kontact.
Note
You can create tasks associated with one email.
Conclusions
[X] Integration
[X] GPG support
[ ] Mailing list management
