Planning MathML Related Projects for 2015

2014 was a amazing year for MathML team and next week we will have our first meeting of 2015. You are our special guest for this meeting that will happen in January 14th at 8pm UTC (check the time at your location here) on #mathml IRC channel. The topics for the meeting are available in this PAD that you can edit.

2014 in Review

• HTML5 become a recommendation and MathML is cover on it.
• 12 online meetings, see list of links here, and one "presencial meeting" on Conferences on Intelligent Computer Mathematics 2014;
• Frédéric Wang developed awesome demos and improve Gecko and Webkit native support with his crowd funding project;
• Some demos of web apps using MathML was developed for Firefox OS and made available on Marketplace, e.g. Math Cheat Sheet, Cuadratica, MexBacMatI;
• Wikipedia and sisters sites can delivery native MathML thanks the work of Moritz Schubotz and others;
• LaTeXML have a nice MathML support thanks the work of Bruce Miller, Deyan Ginev and others;
• approximately 103 bugs related to MathML were closed and progress made on, approximately, 57 others bugs;
• Peter Krautzberger wrote some nice posts, e.g. Why I care about MathML and Bonus round: Why I care about native MathML.

Plans for 2015

We love to

• close all the bugs related to MathML on Gecko;
• close all the bugs related to MathML on WebKit;
• convince Google to enable native MathML support on Chromium/Chrome
• convince Microsoft to enable native MathML support on IE and Spartan since Microsoft Office already supports MathML;
• convince ereaders manufacturers, e.g. Amazon and Rakuten, to support native MathML on their devices;
• provide more authoring tools for MathML content (e.g. LibreOffice Writer can't export MathML).

Unfortunately is impossible for us accomplish all our desires and that why the meeting next week is important since we will select where we want to put our work on.
